DESCRIPTION
The Isle of Dread is the first in a series of adventure modules for use with the DUNGEONS & DRAGONS Expert Rules. As the first D&D wilderness adventure published by TSR Hobbies, the Isle of Dread is designed as an instructional module to help novice Dungeon Masters design their own wilderness adventures.
This module contains maps and background material for the Isle, fifteen new monsters, and suggestions for further adventures. In addition, The Isle of Dread contains a map and background information for a large continent, and eleven smaller maps for encounters on the island itself. In this module, players will push their way through dark jungles and treacherous swamps to discover the lost plateau, and the final secrets of - the Isle of Dread!
This printing is the Orange cover from 1983. If you were looking for a blue cover version, you can find some here. X1 Blue
This version has some differences from the blue cover version. To quote The Acaeum:
"Front cover layout is completely rearranged, in line with the current TSR module style. Several monsters have been changed/excised, to conform with what monsters are available in the Basic and Expert sets (for instance, the three sharks in the temple were changed to crocodiles). Also, as contributor Brett Altschul writes, "there is a glaring error on the maps, specifically the outtake diagram next to the map of the first floor of the temple. The diagram is a sketch, showing how an arched passage leads under the face set in the middle of the wall of the main chamber. This printing lacks the sketch (present in the first three printings above). As a consequence, it appears that the dungeon chambers are completely inaccessible!"
